This is a descriptiton of my hobby restoration of a 38 fordson N. I have worked three years to get it finished.

When we picked it up it was frozen into the ground. My guess is that this tractor had stood outdoor for about 30 years according to the surface finnish. But I wanted a hobby project to work on in my spare time, so we used a blow torche to melt it out of the ground.

Refurbished front axle with new king pins and bushings, track rod pins and bushings. All part fabricated by a friend of mine at a machining shop.

Clutch package dismanteled

Engine with reground valves and seats, honed cylinder bores, and shimed main and big end bearings. From the amount of shims and condition of the crank the engine can not have run too many hours.

Joined rear and engine, and painted. Now all the dirty work really pays off.

As I had refurbished and painted most of the parts prior to assembly, the progress was good when assembly started.

Mostly finished, the engine is started, and the clutch and gearbox tested and working. Used a magneto from another tractor to start as the orginal magneto is not working yet.

The Bosch FU4B Magneto cleaned and assembled with new rotor and new points, but not working. Have sendt it to get the armature rewound, and condenser changed.
